On January 5, 2025, the Solemnity of the Epiphany, the Society of St. Paul, India, gathered with profound gratitude to glorify the Lord, emulating the devotion of the Magi who brought gifts to the Christ Child. On this blessed day, the Church joyfully celebrated the sacred Priestly Ordination of Rev. Gonmei Ningrei.

The ordination took place during a solemn morning Eucharistic celebration at Assumption Catholic Church in the serene village of Dailong, under Mary Help of Christians Parish, Tamenglong, Manipur, India. This momentous occasion was presided over by the Most Rev. Dr. Linus Neli, Archbishop of the Imphal. With great reverence, the Archbishop conferred the sacred priesthood upon Rev. Ningrei and delivered a profound and heartfelt message:

“When you celebrate the Eucharist, remember to lay aside yourself and embody Christ. Speak to the people, not as yourself, but as a vessel of God’s grace.”

These words encapsulated the essence of the priestly vocation—a call to serve, sanctify, and be a living witness of Christ’s love.

The joyous celebration was graced by the presence of the Provincial Superior, Rev. Fr. Joby Mathew SSP; the Formation Director, Rev. Fr. Prithviraj Philip SSP; priests and a deacon from the Society of St. Paul; as well as numerous religious sisters and priests from other congregations. Over a thousand faithful, including family, friends, and well-wishers, gathered to witness this significant moment in the life of the Church and the community. The Eucharistic celebration and ordination ceremony, enriched with heartfelt prayers, hymns, and abundant blessings, elevated the occasion to a spiritual pinnacle.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, the congregation expressed their gratitude to God for the gift of a new priest to the Church. The spirit of joy and unity continued as everyone gathered for a fellowship meal, sharing not only food but also love, laughter, and the warmth of community.

This day will forever be etched in the hearts of the faithful as a testimony to God’s enduring presence in His Church. It serves as a reminder that, like the wise men who journeyed to worship Christ, we too are called to seek Him, serve Him, and bring His light to the world. May Rev. Ningrei’s ministry bear abundant fruit as he walks humbly in the footsteps of Christ, the eternal High Priest.
